A man was killed and another injured after a group of helmeted assailants opened fire in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on Sunday night.
The incident occurred around 10:30pm in Sardar Goli of Dhalpur.
According to the injured man, the attackers arrived on several motorcycles and shouted, “Imran, don’t run,” before firing indiscriminately at Imran.
The deceased was identified as Sagar Khan Imran, around 40.
He sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The injured man, 32-year-old Bidyut Zakaria, suffered gunshot wounds to his hand and leg and is receiving treatment at the hospital.
Police said they have launched an investigation into the incident.
