The home of Monirul Hawlader, a former Chhatra League leader accused of being involved in the alleged assault on actress Azmeri Haque Badhon in Italy, has been found locked, with his family members reportedly going into hiding.

Local residents said Monirul’s mother, siblings and other family members left their home in Khalashikandi village of Madaripur on Tuesday morning.

The family’s whereabouts were not immediately known.

Monirul, reportedly a former leader of the Chhatra League in Dhurail Union, went to Italy about one and a half years ago via Libya.

He has been accused of involvement in the incident in Venice in which Badhon alleged that she was physically harassed and assaulted.

Police have increased security around Monirul’s home to prevent any possible attack or vandalism. Authorities said they were taking precautions to maintain peace in the area.

The allegations against Monirul have not been independently verified, and no official statement from Italian police regarding his alleged involvement was immediately available.
