A suspected explosive device has been found at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Dhaka’s Rayerbazar, prompting the Special Response Battalion (SRB) to cordon off the area.
According to law enforcement officials, a team of SRB-2 reached the graveyard on Monday night after receiving information that objects resembling cocktails had been found wrapped in polythene at the base of a tree.
SRB-2 Company Commander Hasan Muhtarem said the unit’s bomb disposal team had been informed and would examine the objects to determine whether they were explosive materials.
The area has been secured as a precaution while the bomb disposal team carries out its operation.
Earlier on Monday, SRB personnel recovered 15 cocktails and five petrol bombs from the old Trade Fair ground behind Ganabhaban in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
