A CNG-powered autorickshaw driver was injured in a cocktail explosion outside the July Uprising Memorial Museum in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at around 10:45pm on October 14, when unidentified assailants threw two crude bombs at the road in front of the museum.

One exploded after landing on a CNG-powered autorickshaw, injuring its driver, while the other remained unexploded.

The injured driver, whose identity was not immediately known, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Mohammad Ibn Mizan, deputy commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Tejgaon Division, confirmed the incident, saying police were working to identify and arrest those responsible.

Police said there were no CCTV cameras at the immediate site of the explosion. However, they were attempting to collect and examine footage from cameras in nearby areas to identify the perpetrators.

The incident has raised security concerns around the museum, which commemorates the July Uprising.
