DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank (BB) has directed all financial companies operating in the country to complete the receipt of applications and obtain board approval for special loan rescheduling and restructuring facilities for affected borrowers by December 31, 2026.

The central bank issued the directive to provide policy support for restoring the business operations and financial conditions of distressed but viable institutions.

The circular, addressed to the chief executive officers and managing directors of all financial companies, referred to earlier circular letters issued on July 16 and August 31, 2026.

Under the latest directive, financial companies must receive applications from distressed borrowers seeking special rescheduling and restructuring facilities and complete all related procedures, including approval by their respective boards of directors, by December 31, 2026.

The circular said all existing relevant circulars and other instructions issued in this connection would remain unchanged.

Issued on Monday under Section 41(1)(ka) of the Financial Companies Act, 2023, the directive will take immediate effect, the circular said.
