Ahmadul Kobir, Malaysia: More than 300 Bangladeshi expatriates received passport and other consular services at a two-day special camp organised by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur in Penang, Malaysia.

Held on October 17 and 18 at NBL Remittance House in George Town, the camp provided e-passport enrolment, passport distribution and other essential services to Bangladeshis living in the Malaysian state.

A delegation from the Bangladesh High Commission conducted the camp to make consular services more accessible to the expatriate community and reduce the need for them to travel to Kuala Lumpur for passport-related procedures.

Besides e-passport services, the delegation assisted expatriates with travel permits, letters concerning passport information corrections, letters of introduction and other consular matters. It also provided guidance on related issues.

During the camp, High Commission representatives advised Bangladeshi migrant workers to maintain legal status and employment in Malaysia. They also urged expatriates to avoid irregular migration and comply with Malaysian laws, regulations and local customs.

The initiative was aimed at easing access to essential consular services for Bangladeshis living outside Kuala Lumpur while raising awareness of the importance of lawful migration and compliance with the host country’s regulations.
