The US Embassy in Dhaka has congratulated Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the 23rd President of Bangladesh.
The embassy conveyed the greetings in a Facebook post on Saturday, saying the United States looks forward to working with President Mirza Fakhrul and the Bangladesh government to further strengthen the bilateral partnership.
Mirza Fakhrul was elected president on August 20 and took oath of office at Bangabhaban on Friday evening.
