The US Embassy in Dhaka has shared a photograph of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, with US President Donald Trump.
The embassy shared a post by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Bangladesh on its verified Facebook page. The PMO identified the source of the photograph as the White House.
The photograph shows Tarique and Zubaida standing with Trump at a dinner hosted by the US president and First Lady Melania Trump for world leaders and their spouses attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The dinner was held in New York on September 22. The PMO released the photograph on Saturday, October 3, after which Tarique also shared it on his Facebook page.
The release of the photograph came amid claims on social media questioning whether the image had been generated using artificial intelligence.
The Prime Minister’s Press Wing said the photograph of Tarique and Zubaida with Trump was obtained from the White House and subsequently released to the public.
It alleged that an AI-generated image of Trump with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was being circulated alongside the photograph to create doubts about its authenticity.
Independent fact-checking found that the image involving Kurti was AI-generated. Its creator also later acknowledged that it had been made as an AI-generated meme.
The Press Wing said the AI-generated image was being used to portray the photograph of Tarique and Zubaida with Trump as fake.
