Education can play a vital role in further strengthening the longstanding relations between Bangladesh and China, Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said, highlighting the historic role of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in establishing and advancing bilateral ties.
He said the relationship between the two countries was further strengthened under former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and expressed hope that it would reach new heights under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The minister made the remarks while addressing the China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Luncheon in Guangzhou, which brought together senior government officials, university leaders, education representatives and industry partners from both countries.
According to a press release received here today, the event focused on four key areas: opportunities for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education in China, university-to-university cooperation, joint research, and vocational education and skills development.
Prime Minister’s Adviser and Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin also addressed the gathering. He highlighted the history of Bangladesh-China relations and stressed the importance of carrying the longstanding friendship between the two countries forward.
Mahdi also outlined the government’s vision for third-language education and underscored the growing importance of Chinese-language learning for Bangladeshi students.
Representatives of Chinese universities shared their views and proposals on student exchanges, academic collaboration, vocational education and skills training.
A major highlight of the event was the official unveiling of the China-Bangladesh International Service Center for Industry-Education Integration.
The centre will facilitate collaboration between educational institutions and industries in Bangladesh and China, particularly in vocational education, skills development and joint programmes.
The event was viewed as another significant step towards deepening Bangladesh-China relations through education, skills development, language learning and stronger people-to-people connectivity.
