Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held separate telephone conversations with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday to discuss the implementation of the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement.
During his call with Faisal bin Farhan, Dar reviewed follow-up measures on decisions taken at the first meeting of the pact’s Strategic Political and Defence Committee, held in Istanbul on August 31.
They also exchanged views on regional and international developments and matters of mutual interest in multilateral forums.
In his conversation with Fidan, Dar thanked him for hosting the first committee meeting in Istanbul.
The two ministers discussed implementing the meeting’s decisions and ways to further strengthen cooperation under the framework of the Mecca agreement.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement in Mecca on August 7.
Under the pact, an armed attack against any one of the three countries will be considered an attack against all three.
