Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah has expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for Bangladesh’s support following devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal.
In a recent letter, Shah thanked Tarique for his message of solidarity and expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s contribution of $1 million to Nepal’s relief and humanitarian efforts.
He said the disaster, which struck Nepal on August 26, caused significant loss of life and extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and livelihoods.
Shah also thanked Bangladesh for adopting a condolence motion in the National Parliament over the tragedy, saying the gesture reflected the sympathy and solidarity of the Bangladeshi people with Nepal.
The Nepalese prime minister described Nepal as not only a close neighbour but also a dear friend of Bangladesh, highlighting the strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Bangladesh contributed $1 million to the Nepal Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund on September 3 to support relief, recovery and humanitarian operations.
