No Bangladeshi national has so far been reported dead or affected in the devastating flash floods and mudslides in Nepal, Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Shafiqur Rahman said.
“No Bangladeshi tourist has been reported affected,” the ambassador told UNB on Wednesday night.
The catastrophic floods struck the Bhote Koshi River area in northern Nepal on Wednesday, leaving at least 162 people dead and hundreds missing, including foreign tourists.
Rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas.
The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu expressed deep shock and sadness over the loss of lives and property caused by the disaster.
It said it was closely monitoring developments and standing in solidarity with the Nepalese government and people as rescue efforts continued.
The Bangladesh government has also expressed condolences to the victims and said it remains ready to provide assistance to Nepal in relief and rescue operations.
