Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured foreign investors of the government’s full support, saying Bangladesh is ready to facilitate investment and create a more favourable and predictable business environment.
“Bangladesh currently offers a favourable environment for investment. The government is ready to provide all necessary support to interested foreign investors,” he said.
The Prime Minister made the remarks when an eight-member delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) paid a courtesy call on him at the Cabinet Division meeting room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
PM’s Assistant Press Secretary Gazi Shahriar Pami briefed reporters about the meeting.
The AmCham delegation was led by its president and Mastercard Vice President Syed Mohammad Kamal.
During the meeting, the AmCham representatives informed the Prime Minister that the chamber’s new committee, which assumed office around two months ago, is working to attract increased US investment to Bangladesh and further deepen commercial and economic ties between the two countries.
The delegation also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the government and the US business community and create greater opportunities for American companies in Bangladesh.
The Prime Minister welcomed the initiative and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting foreign investors and facilitating business activities.
The assurance comes as Bangladesh seeks to attract greater foreign direct investment to support economic growth, expand employment opportunities and strengthen its integration with global markets.
Greater US investment could also help Bangladesh access advanced technology, international expertise and global value chains, particularly in sectors with export and growth potential.
Commerce Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications, Information Technology, Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad, and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun were present at the meeting.
