Bangladesh’s exports to Turkey more than doubled in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, rising 100.11% year-on-year, according to data from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB).

Bangladesh earned $210.54 million from exports to Turkey during July–September of FY2026-27, compared with $105.21 million in the same period a year earlier.

The growth was significantly higher than Bangladesh’s overall export growth of 6.34% during the quarter, when total merchandise exports reached $13.09 billion.

Readymade garments remain Bangladesh’s main export to Turkey. Other products include jute and jute goods, footwear, and optical, medical and textile-related equipment.

Industry leaders said rising living standards and wages in Turkey are gradually reducing the country’s domestic garment production capacity, creating opportunities for Bangladeshi apparel exporters.

Exporters also see potential to diversify shipments beyond garments, particularly through jute products, footwear and value-added textile products.

EPB Vice Chairman Muhammad Hasan Arif said Bangladesh should assess product-specific demand and buyer requirements to identify new opportunities in the Turkish market.

He also stressed the importance of trade fairs, buyer-seller meetings, competitive pricing, quality products and reliable delivery to sustain the growth.

The strong increase in exports indicates growing potential for Bangladesh to expand its presence in the Turkish market and strengthen bilateral trade.
