The admission tests of Rajshahi University (RU) for the 2026-27 academic year will be held in Barishal as a regional centre for the first time.

The proposal was raised at a meeting of the university’s Admission Sub-Committee at the vice-chancellor’s office at 10am on Tuesday. Professor SM Kamruzzaman, administrator of the university’s Public Relations Office, confirmed the matter.

Professor Kamruzzaman said the first meeting of the Admission Sub-Committee had initially decided to hold the admission tests in seven cities—Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Khulna, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet.

“Considering the demand from students in Barishal division, the Admission Sub-Committee has also considered holding the admission tests in the division. The matter was taken up at today’s second meeting of the committee,” he said.

Meanwhile, the committee has recommended beginning this year’s admission tests with the ‘B’ Unit (Business Studies).

It has proposed holding the ‘B’ Unit test on January 8, the ‘C’ Unit (Science) test on January 9 and the ‘A’ Unit (Humanities) test on January 16.

The committee has also proposed opening applications from November 12 to 27.
