President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today stressed the need to prioritise technology, engineering and technical education to equip young people with skills suited to employment opportunities at home and abroad.
He made the remarks when a delegation led by Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) Vice-Chancellor Prof Abul Hasnat Md Shamim paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban this noon.
During the meeting, the PUST vice-chancellor briefed the President on the university’s overall activities, President’s Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam told media.
“The quality of education must be improved in line with the rapidly changing world, and students of the country must move forward,” the President said.
“Our country must gradually get rid of the education system that creates unemployment and does not provide students for employment,” he added.
The President also stressed the importance of technology, engineering and technical education in preparing young people with skills that match employment opportunities both at home and abroad.
During the meeting, the PUST vice-chancellor formally invited the President, who is also the university’s Chancellor, to attend its upcoming convocation.
The President accepted the invitation and assured that he would attend the convocation.
The President’s Military Secretary, Secretary and Press Secretary, as well as the university’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Treasurer, were present.
