SSC results likely on July 30

More than 1.85 million students awaiting the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examination results may finally receive them on July 30, according to officials familiar with the process.

The prolonged wait has heightened anxiety among students, parents, teachers and well-wishers, particularly as the results were not published within the usual timeframe.

Officials at the Ministry of Education said the delay is unlikely to continue much longer, with education boards aiming to complete the result preparation by July 27 or 28. The ministry is expected to finalise July 30 as the official publication date.

Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman, chairman of the Dhaka Education Board and president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, said the boards had initially hoped to publish the results by July 20, but could not meet that target.

“We are working to complete the results by July 27 or 28. The results will be published on the date decided by the Ministry of Education,” he told local media.

A senior official of the ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division said that if the boards complete the preparation by July 28, the results could be released on Thursday, July 30.

The official noted that education authorities are currently occupied with preparations for the inauguration of the Notun Kuri Sports Programme on July 27, which is expected to be attended by the Prime Minister. With July 31 falling on a Friday, July 30 is considered the most likely date for the announcement.

This year’s SSC and equivalent written examinations concluded on May 20. Under the standard practice, results are generally published within 60 days of the completion of examinations, meaning they were expected by July 20. However, the education boards were unable to meet that deadline.

The examinations began on April 21, with 1,857,344 candidates registering. Of them, 1,418,398 appeared under the nine general education boards, 304,286 under the Madrasah Education Board (Dakhil), and 134,660 under the Technical Education Board.

Education authorities also reported that the number of expulsions for malpractice during this year’s examinations was significantly lower than in previous years.
