The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has raised jet fuel prices again for October, increasing the cost for both domestic and international flights.
For domestic flights, the price of jet fuel has been raised to Tk 182.71 per litre from Tk 165.65 in September, an increase of Tk 17.06 per litre in a month.
For international flights, the price has been increased to $1.1882 per litre from $1.0770 in September, up by $0.1112 per litre.
BERC announced the new prices in a press release on Wednesday. The revised rates will take effect from midnight on Wednesday.
Jet fuel prices have risen significantly since August. The price for domestic flights was Tk 159.52 per litre in August, meaning the October rate is Tk 23.19 higher than two months earlier.
For international flights, the price stood at $1.0358 per litre in August. The October rate is therefore $0.1524 higher than the August price.
BERC said it set the October prices after considering the average published Platts rates for Jet A-1 in the international market from September 5 to October 4, the US dollar exchange rate used by Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) for letter-of-credit settlements and other relevant factors.
