Veteran Bangladeshi actor Ilias Kanchan is returning to Bangladesh after spending more than a year in London undergoing treatment for a brain tumour.
He departed from London Heathrow Airport for Dhaka on Monday morning (Bangladesh time), accompanied by his son-in-law, Ariful Islam Collins.
A photo taken at the airport showed the veteran actor with white hair and a beard.
Confirming the development, Liton Ershad, Vice President of the road safety organisation Nirapad Sarak Chai (We Demand Safe Roads), said Kanchan is returning home for only a few days before heading back to London to continue his treatment.
“He is expected to arrive in Bangladesh this afternoon. However, this is not a long-term return, as he has his next medical evaluation in London on August 15 and must travel back before August 14,” Ershad told local media.
Kanchan has been receiving treatment in London since being diagnosed with a brain tumour. According to those close to him, he has undergone 60 chemotherapy sessions as part of his ongoing treatment.
