Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 is showing strong momentum ahead of its release, with advance ticket sales crossing 200,000 on BookMyShow.
The film has become the 17th Bollywood release since August last year to cross the 200,000-ticket mark during its advance booking period. The strong response is being driven by interest in Hashmi’s return to the role of Shivam, which became popular after the release of Awarapan in 2007.
Advance bookings saw a sharp rise on the final day before release. Around 11,570 tickets were sold between 8pm and 9pm alone.
The film sold nearly 88,000 tickets on BookMyShow between 7am and 9pm on the final day. Its advance sales had already crossed 108,000 tickets before the final-day surge.
The booking momentum has increased steadily over the past few days. Around 7,000 tickets were sold on August 10, followed by nearly 36,000 on August 11 and more than 65,000 on August 12.
The film has also crossed 100,000 opening-day advance ticket sales across India’s three major multiplex chains.
The three chains have generated around ₹4 crore in gross revenue from advance bookings. PVR has contributed about ₹2 crore from roughly 51,000 tickets, while Inox has collected around ₹1.2 crore from approximately 35,000 tickets. Cinepolis has added about ₹75 lakh from more than 20,000 tickets.
These figures put Awarapan 2 ahead of several recent Bollywood releases, including Housefull 5, Shaitaan and Raid 2, in terms of final pre-release sales across the major cinema chains.
Across India, the film’s Day 1 advance booking gross has reached around ₹5.86 crore from 8,619 shows, with nearly 194,000 tickets sold.
Including blocked seats, the gross value rises to approximately ₹8.63 crore.
The average ticket price is around ₹240, suggesting that the film is attracting audiences across a wide section of the Hindi-speaking market.
The strong advance sales indicate that the cult following of Awarapan and anticipation surrounding Emraan Hashmi’s return as Shivam could give the sequel a strong opening at the box office.
