South Indian superstar Yash has returned to cinemas after a four-year break with Toxic, which was released worldwide on Wednesday, August 26.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and reportedly made on a budget of around ₹500 crore, the film has made a strong start at the Indian box office.

According to Sacnilk, Toxic had earned ₹27.45 crore in India by 11am, just five hours after its first show at 6am. Its Hindi version led the collections with ₹11.92 crore, followed by Kannada at ₹9.12 crore, Telugu at ₹4.64 crore, Tamil at ₹1.30 crore and Malayalam at ₹0.47 crore.

The early collection has already surpassed the first-day earnings of five other major releases of 2026.

Alia Bhatt’s Alpha earned ₹9.25 crore on its opening day, while Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2 collected ₹22 crore. Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle recorded ₹15.25 crore, Ajay Devgn’s Dhamal 4 earned ₹14 crore, and Shahid Kapoor’s Cocktail 2 collected ₹16.20 crore.

The strong opening has raised expectations for Toxic as Yash makes his big-screen comeback following the success of the KGF franchise.
