Six more children died with measles-like symptoms across Bangladesh in the 24 hours to Tuesday, while 1,231 children were reported with confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.
Since March 15, a total of 880 children have died with suspected measles, while 99 deaths have been confirmed as measles-related. The combined death toll from suspected and confirmed measles now stands at 979.
The figures were disclosed in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) control room on Tuesday.
Seventy-two new confirmed measles cases were reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases since March 15 to 19,384. Another 1,159 people developed measles-like symptoms during the same period.
The cumulative number of suspected measles cases has now reached 159,150 since March 15.
According to DGHS data, 139,519 people with measles-like symptoms have been hospitalised during the period, of whom 134,458 have recovered and been discharged.
