Three children died of suspected measles in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while another 1,044 children were diagnosed with measles symptoms during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS disclosed the figures in a press release on Thursday afternoon.
It said all three deaths recorded in the past 24 hours were classified as suspected measles deaths. Of the 1,044 newly identified cases, 80 were confirmed measles cases and 964 were suspected cases.
Since March 15, a total of 161,148 measles-suspected patients have been identified across the country, including 19,527 confirmed cases.
During the same period, 141,449 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 136,405 have since been discharged.
The country has recorded 987 measles-related deaths since March 15. Of these, 887 were suspected measles deaths and 99 were confirmed cases.
Dhaka division has recorded the highest number of measles cases and deaths, followed by Rajshahi, Chattogram, Khulna, Barishal, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.
Health authorities have continued monitoring the outbreak as the number of suspected and confirmed cases remains high across the country.
