Three children die with measles symptoms in 24 hrs

Three more children died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours, while 1,098 children were either diagnosed with measles or reported symptoms of the disease during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said this in a press release issued by its control room on Sunday (September 6).

According to the release, measles was confirmed in 55 children through medical tests in the past 24 hours, while 1,043 children received treatment for symptoms associated with the disease.

DGHS data showed that 894 children had died with measles symptoms between March 15 and September 6 this year. During the same period, 100 children died after being confirmed as measles patients.

In total, 994 children have died from confirmed measles infections or measles-like symptoms during the period.

The number of suspected measles cases in the country has reached 164,148, including 19,696 laboratory-confirmed cases.

A total of 144,168 patients have been admitted to hospitals, while 138,772 have been discharged after receiving treatment.
