Justice Mohammad Habibul Gani has been sworn in as a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice of Bangladesh administered the oath at the Supreme Court Judges’ Lounge on Sunday morning (August 30).

Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui conducted the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier, on August 27, President of Bangladesh appointed Justice Mohammad Habibul Gani to the Appellate Division. A gazette notification was subsequently issued by the Law Ministry regarding his appointment.

According to the notification, issued under Article 95(1) of the Constitution of Bangladesh, the president appointed Justice Habibul Gani, who had been serving in the High Court Division, as a judge of the Appellate Division. The appointment took effect from the date of his oath-taking.

Justice Habibul Gani had been serving as a judge of the High Court Division.

Following his appointment, the number of judges in the Appellate Division, including the Chief Justice, has risen to five.
