Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sammilita Sanatani Jagaran Jote, has been granted five hours’ parole to attend his mother’s funeral, following her death on Thursday.

Chattogram District Magistrate Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia issued the order on Thursday, with Additional District Magistrate Syed Mahbubul Haque confirming the decision.

According to the order, Chinmoy, also known as Chandan Kumar Dhar, is a detainee in a case filed with Kotwali Police Station. His mother, Sandhya Rani Dhar, died on Thursday, and her funeral rites were scheduled for 3pm at Sri Sri Pundarik Dham in Mekhal, Hathazari.

Chinmoy’s brother, Ranjan Kumar Dhar, had applied for his temporary release so that he could attend the funeral. Following the application, the district magistrate approved his parole for five hours from the time of release.

The senior jail superintendent of Chattogram Central Jail has been instructed to take the necessary steps in accordance with the relevant Home Ministry directives issued in 2016.

Swatantra Gauranga Das, a senior official of the management committee of Prabartak Sri Sri Radha Krishna Temple in Chattogram and spokesperson for the Bangladesh Sanatan Jagaran Mancha, confirmed that the parole order had been issued.

He said Chinmoy would be released for five hours after the order reaches Chattogram District Jail.

According to jail sources, Chinmoy will be taken directly to Sri Sri Pundarik Dham in Hathazari after his release. His mother’s body is being kept there, and funeral preparations have already been completed.
