Asif files case over shooting at his car

Singer Asif Akbar has filed a case over the shooting at his car in the capital’s Moghbazar area. He lodged the case with Hatirjheel Police Station on Saturday night (October 24), naming himself as the complainant.

Hatirjheel Police Station Officer-in-Charge Asaduzzaman confirmed the filing, saying the complaint named no suspects and accused unidentified persons.

“We are still investigating the incident and have yet to identify those involved,” the OC said, adding that other law enforcement agencies were also looking into the matter.

The shooting took place between 4:45am and 5:30am on Saturday in front of Bishal Centre in Moghbazar. Asif was not inside the car at the time; he was at his personal office and studio in the building. No one was in the vehicle when the shots were fired, and no casualties were reported. However, the car’s rear window was damaged.

According to police, an unidentified person arrived in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and fired at the vehicle before fleeing towards Malibagh in the same vehicle.

After receiving the report, police visited the scene and recovered a bullet cartridge from inside the car. Investigators are examining nearby CCTV footage to determine the motive behind the shooting and identify those responsible.
