Naval police are questioning Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep and Nishat Tasnim Disha face-to-face in connection with the murder case of former Bangladesh Air Force officer KM Tahsif Sauri.
Both are currently on four-day remand in naval police custody.
Police are cross-checking their statements to identify inconsistencies and establish the circumstances surrounding Tahsif’s death.
According to investigation sources, Tahsif left his residence in Uttara with Deep on a motorcycle on October 27.
They later went to a bar in Uttara’s Sector 13, where Disha joined them.
An argument reportedly took place between Tahsif and Disha during their stay there. About an hour later, Tahsif dropped Disha near her residence on his motorcycle.
Investigators are also examining Deep’s account of what happened later that night in the Tongi Mazar Road slum area.
Deep claimed that he and Tahsif fled in different directions after seeing two men dressed as police officers. He said he later returned home alone.
However, investigators are examining the timeline, CCTV footage and other evidence to verify his claims.
Tahsif reportedly sent a voice message to his mother at 1:35am, saying he was on his way home. Four minutes later, Deep called the caretaker of his rented residence in Mohammadpur, saying he would be late. He returned home at around 2:30am.
Tahsif’s body was recovered from the Turag River on October 28. His father subsequently filed a murder case against unidentified persons.
Deep was arrested in connection with the case, and Disha was later arrested based on information obtained during his interrogation. The investigation is ongoing.
