Twelve platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Gazipur, Narayanganj and adjoining industrial areas to maintain law and order amid ongoing labour unrest.

The force is also monitoring the situation in real time using drones and body-worn cameras.

According to the BGB, 10 platoons are currently deployed in Safipur, Kaliakair and Konabari areas of Gazipur, while two platoons are stationed in Chashara, Narayanganj.

BGB personnel are working in coordination with local administrations and other law enforcement agencies. The situation in Ashulia and Mirpur is also being closely monitored.

As part of enhanced surveillance, drones are being used to monitor important roads, intersections and sensitive locations. Footage from body-worn cameras attached to deployed personnel is also being monitored to oversee their activities.

A central monitoring cell at BGB headquarters is livestreaming footage from drones and body-worn cameras, enabling authorities to assess ground conditions, coordinate with field units and issue necessary instructions promptly.

The BGB said it was working with professionalism, restraint and responsibility to protect public life and property, ensure normal movement and maintain a peaceful environment in industrial areas.

The force added that coordinated operations and technology-based surveillance would continue until the situation returned to normal.
