The SAARC Journalist Forum (SJF) and ICJ Global Media Group LLC have signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen international cooperation among journalists, promote press freedom and expand professional opportunities for media practitioners across South Asia.
The agreement was signed by SJF International President Raju Lama in New York and ICJ Global Media Group LLC Founder and Chief Executive Officer Saša Dobrijević in Belgrade, Serbia.
Under the agreement, the two organisations will collaborate on initiatives to promote independent journalism, improve professional standards and enhance the international visibility of journalists from the SAARC region.
As part of the partnership, the SAARC Journalist Forum will join the ICJ Friends institutional network. The organisations will also promote each other’s activities through their digital platforms and create an official SJF profile on the ICJ platform to showcase its programmes and initiatives.
The agreement encourages SJF-affiliated journalists to become members of the Intercontinental Connection of Journalists (ICJ), enabling them to access professional training, publishing opportunities, international networking, media forums, press credentials and eligibility for ICJ awards. Premium members will also have access to the ICJ Marketplace for the international distribution of investigative and exclusive journalism.
The two organisations also agreed to cooperate on joint projects, information sharing and online exchanges aimed at strengthening media collaboration and professional solidarity across South Asia and other regions.
According to the MoU, the partnership will remain in force for an initial three-year period and may be renewed by mutual agreement. Either party may terminate the agreement by providing 60 days’ written notice.
The organisations said the agreement reflects their shared commitment to promoting press freedom, ethical journalism and international cooperation among media professionals.
