July Memorial Museum opens on August 5

The July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum, established at Ganabhaban in the capital, will be inaugurated on August 5, marking the second anniversary of the 2024 mass uprising that led to the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government.

The Ministry of Cultural affairs said on Monday that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given his consent to attend the inauguration ceremony, scheduled to begin at 9:00am.

The museum was established to preserve the history and legacy of the July 2024 uprising and honour those who were killed during the movement.

Opening its doors to the public two years after the historic uprising, the museum will showcase photographs, video footage, official documents, eyewitness accounts and personal belongings of those who lost their lives.

It will also offer guided tours and educational programmes for students and researchers, while an online ticketing system will be introduced to facilitate public access.
