The government is taking necessary steps to bring home the bodies of 16 Bangladeshis who died in a devastating fire at a sofa factory in Saudi Arabia.
The bodies will be repatriated with the consent of the victims’ families after the identification process is completed, said Mohammad Kamrul Islam Bhuiyan, public relations officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday (August 10).
The 16 Bangladeshis were killed in the fire at the sofa factory in Saudi Arabia on Sunday (August 9). All of them were working at the factory.
Of the deceased, 13 were from Atrai upazila in Naogaon, while two were from Naldanga upazila in Natore and one from Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi.
The news of the deaths has cast a pall of grief over Atrai and Naldanga, with the victims’ families mourning the loss of their loved ones.
