The government has dismissed six police officers, including controversial former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Biplob Kumar Sarkar and DMP Assistant Commissioner Golam Ruhani, the younger brother of former Bangladesh Chhatra League general secretary Golam Rabbani.

The other dismissed officers are former DMP Joint Commissioner Sudip Kumar Chakraborty; former Wari Division Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Iqbal Hossain; former Uttara Division DC Kazi Ashraful Azim; and Additional Superintendent of Police Rajon Kumar Das of Cox’s Bazar Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

The dismissals were announced in six separate orders issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (August 12), signed by Senior Secretary Manzur Morshed Chowdhury on behalf of the President.

According to the ministry’s notifications, the officers were dismissed under the relevant provisions of the Government Service Act, 2018.
