Major reshuffle in police admin

Major changes have been made to the posts of police commissioners, range deputy inspector generals (DIGs), district police superintendents (SPs) and deputy commissioners (DCs) in Bangladesh Police.

In four separate notifications issued by the Police-1 branch of the Home Ministry, 23 officers from the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre were transferred and appointed to new posts.

The orders were issued on Wednesday (August 12) by order of the President and signed by Home Ministry Deputy Secretary Tousif Ahmed. The orders, issued in the public interest, were made effective immediately.

New DIGs have been appointed to the Rangpur and Barishal ranges. Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Mohammad Abdul Mabud has been appointed DIG of Rangpur Range, while DIG Mohammad Zulfikar Ali Haider of Industrial Police has been appointed DIG of Barishal Range. Additional DIG Farida Yasmin of Highway Police has been attached to the office of the Barishal Range DIG.

Meanwhile, Additional DIG Mohammad Saleh Uddin of Rab has been transferred to Highway Police as an additional DIG, while Highway Police Additional DIG Mir Modachher Hossain has been transferred to the additional DIG post at the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) in Sardah, Rajshahi.

Major changes have also been made at the district level. Kushtia SP Mohammad Jasim Uddin has been appointed SP of Gazipur. Mohammad Aminul Islam, SP at the Sylhet Range DIG Office, has been appointed SP of Kushtia, while Government Omar Faruk, SP at the Police Staff College, has been appointed SP of Khulna. Khulna’s incumbent SP Mohammad Tajul Islam has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBn).

Gazipur SP Mohammad Sharif Uddin, Narayanganj SP Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munsi, PBI SP Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman and APBn SP Dipak Jyoti Khisa have been appointed SPs of the Highway Police.

Four officers have also been appointed as DCs of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). They are Mohammad Sharfuddin of Barishal Metropolitan Police, Muhammad Abdul Wahab of APBn, Mohammad Akhtar Hossain of Sylhet Metropolitan Police and Mohammad Touhidul Arif, Special SP of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
