The Public Works Department (PWD) has transferred 409 engineers through a lottery-based process, in the latest reshuffle of its engineering workforce.
On Sunday, 152 assistant engineers (civil) and 67 assistant engineers (electrical/mechanical) were transferred during a lottery held at the PWD headquarters in Segunbagicha, Dhaka.
The department also transferred 135 sub-divisional engineers (civil) and 55 sub-divisional engineers (electrical/mechanical) on the same day.
Among the assistant engineers, 100 were transferred and posted to different offices in the Dhaka division, 20 in Rajshahi, 34 in Chattogram, 20 in Khulna, 12 in Barishal, seven in Sylhet, nine in Mymensingh and 17 in Rangpur.
For sub-divisional engineers, 79 were posted to different offices in Dhaka division, 18 in Rajshahi, 32 in Chattogram, 20 in Khulna, 10 in Barishal, nine in Sylhet, seven in Mymensingh and 15 in Rangpur.
Officials from the Ministry of Housing and Public Works and the PWD attended the lottery, including Additional Secretary Md Sarwar Alam and senior PWD engineers.
The latest transfers follow similar lottery-based reshuffles conducted earlier. On July 30, the PWD transferred 767 sub-assistant engineers (civil), while 254 sub-assistant engineers (electrical/mechanical) were transferred on August 3.
