Bangladesh President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar.
The newly elected president arrived at the memorial around 10:22am and stood in silence for a while in remembrance of the martyrs.
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Army, Navy and Air Force presented him with a guard of honour.
