President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left Dhaka for his home district of Thakurgaon on a two-day visit, his first trip to the district since assuming office as president.
He departed for Thakurgaon by helicopter at around 11:15am on Sunday (September 6), the Bangabhaban Press Wing confirmed.
According to his itinerary, the president will land at the Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium ground in Thakurgaon town before proceeding to the district Circuit House, where he will be accorded a guard of honour.
He is scheduled to return to Dhaka on September 7 after completing the two-day visit.
Extensive security measures have been taken across Thakurgaon ahead of the president’s arrival. The district administration has established a three-tier security arrangement, with law enforcement personnel deployed at key locations and along the routes he is scheduled to travel.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was sworn in as president on August 21 this year. This is his first visit to his home district since assuming the presidency.
