A 19-year-old Bangladeshi man from Madaripur was killed in a road accident in Naples, Italy, on Saturday evening (5 September).
The deceased, Shariful Islam, died at the scene while riding a bicycle in the Ville Literno area of the port city of Naples, according to local sources.
Shariful was the only child of Noshu Pramanik of Pramanik Bari in Mithapur village, Ward 1 of Bahadurpur Union under Madaripur Sadar upazila.
Police recovered his body after the accident and sent it to a nearby hospital morgue. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Shariful had moved to Italy only a few months ago in search of work. According to expatriate Bangladeshis, he had been staying at a government shelter in the Ville Literno area of Naples.
News of his death has cast a pall of grief over his family in Madaripur. Relatives have been devastated by the loss of their only child.
