A 13-year-old madrasa student has been missing for five days after leaving his home in Ramgati, Lakkhipur, for his madrasa.
Arafat Hossain Shaheen, a student of the Hifz section at Darus Sunnah Islamia Madrasa in Torabganj, left his home in Char Poragachha area of Ramgati on Saturday to attend classes. His family could not locate him despite searching various places and contacting relatives.
His mother, Shahinur Begum, filed a general diary (GD) with Ramgati Police Station on Thursday.
Shaheen’s home is in Char Basu village of Char Qadir Union in Kamalnagar upazila.
His father, Abul Bashar, said family members and madrasa teachers had searched various possible locations across Lakkhipur but found no trace of him.
Relatives said Shaheen was wearing a black panjabi and a cap when he went missing. He has a dark complexion and is approximately 4 feet 5 inches tall.
Ramgati Police Station Officer-in-Charge Liton Dewan said Shaheen’s mother did not accompany him to the madrasa, and police suspect he went missing somewhere along the route.
The officer said the boy may have left because of fear or anxiety related to his madrasa studies, though the circumstances remain unclear.
Police have taken the GD into account and are taking necessary legal steps to locate and recover the child.
