Seven-day holiday during Durga Puja in Oct

Government employees from the Hindu community in Bangladesh may get an opportunity to enjoy seven consecutive days off during the upcoming Durga Puja holidays in October.

According to the government holiday calendar, the main Durga Puja holidays will begin on October 20, Tuesday, with a holiday by executive order on the occasion of Mahanavami.

The following day, October 21, Wednesday, will be a public holiday for Bijaya Dashami.

In addition to the two public holidays, Hindu government employees can take two optional holidays on October 18 and 19, Sunday and Monday, respectively, on the occasions of Maha Saptami and Maha Ashtami.

By combining the two optional holidays with the two public holidays, Hindu government employees can enjoy four consecutive days off from October 18 to 21.

If they also take leave on Thursday, October 22, the subsequent weekend can be added, creating an opportunity for seven consecutive days of leave.

The extended break, however, is subject to the applicable rules governing optional leave for government employees.
