Two young men were killed and two others injured after two motorcycles lost control and crashed in Chunarughat upazila of Habiganj on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 5:30pm on the old Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Chandpur Tea Garden, police said.
The deceased were identified as Mohaddis Khan, 20, of Holholia village, and Sheikh Nayan Mia, 20, of Satang village, both in Chunarughat. The identities of the two injured could not immediately be confirmed. They were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
According to police, four youths had gone to the Chandpur Tea Garden area on two motorcycles. On their way back, the motorcycles were allegedly being driven at high speed when the riders lost control, causing the crash. Two of the youths died at the scene.
Police recovered the bodies and sent the injured to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Saiful Islam confirmed the incident, saying necessary legal procedures were underway.
