The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu has advised Bangladeshi tourists and trekkers to avoid areas in Nepal affected by heavy rainfall, floods and landslides until weather and overall conditions improve.
The embassy issued the warning in a Facebook post on Sunday night (September 27). It urged Bangladeshi travellers to exercise extreme caution, particularly in Pisang, Chame, Manang and surrounding tourist areas.
Continuous rainfall, landslides and snowfall have disrupted road communications in several areas, while difficult terrain and damaged transport links have made rescue operations challenging.
Authorities have already suspended trekking in several parts of Manang, including Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, Ice Lake, Kang La and Bhimthang.
The embassy also advised travellers to exercise caution when visiting Pokhara and surrounding areas, where landslides have disrupted road links and access to nearby trekking destinations.
Those planning to travel to Mustang, Jomsom and other mountainous areas have been advised to check road conditions in Gandaki Province beforehand, as routes may be disrupted without warning.
Bangladeshi citizens planning trekking, mountaineering or travel to mountainous and landslide-prone areas, including Annapurna, Manang, Mustang and Manaslu, have been advised to verify all relevant information and closely follow instructions issued by the Nepalese government and local authorities.
Those already travelling in high-risk areas have been advised to stay in safe locations, avoid riverbanks and landslide-prone areas, check road and weather conditions before travelling, and maintain regular contact with their tour operators and the Bangladesh Embassy.
The embassy said it is monitoring the situation and maintaining communication with Nepalese authorities. It will issue further updates as necessary.
