Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly attempting to cross into India illegally through the Jibannagar border in Chuadanga.

The arrests were made around 11:30am on Thursday at a jackfruit orchard in Brittpara village under a border union of Jibannagar upazila.

The detainees were identified as Uttam Kumar Debnath, 53, from the Khilkhet area of Dhaka, and Arun Kumar Pal, 49, from Guakhola Road in Chandpur Sadar upazila.

According to the BGB, a patrol team from Benipur Border Outpost under the 58 BGB Battalion received confidential information that two Bangladeshi nationals were attempting to cross the border illegally.

The team subsequently conducted a raid at Asadul’s jackfruit orchard in Brittpara village and arrested the two men.

The BGB later handed them over to Jibannagar Police Station. A case has been filed in connection with the incident.

Jibannagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Solaiman confirmed the case.
