Woman found with hands, legs tied behind school in Sitakunda

Police recovered the body of an unidentified woman with her hands and legs tied behind a school in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Friday morning.

The body was recovered around 8am from an area beside Teriyail High School in Teriyail, under Baraiyadhala Union. The area is close to the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.

Police had not identified the woman as of 12:30pm. She was estimated to be around 35 years old.

Police suspect she was strangled to death before her body was dumped at the spot. Injuries were also found on her neck.

Mohammad Alamgir, investigation officer of Sitakunda Police Station, told media that the woman was wearing a salwar kameez. Investigators suspect she was strangled with a scarf wrapped around her neck.

As the body was found beside the highway, police suspect she may have been killed elsewhere and later abandoned at the location.

A murder case will be filed with Sitakunda Police Station, Alamgir said, adding that further details about the killing would be known after the autopsy report.
