RAJBARI: A total of 42 unexploded cocktails were recovered from an abandoned mango orchard in Bishnupur area of Pangsha Municipality in Rajbari on Friday.

The explosives were recovered during a raid conducted by the Special Response Battalion (SRB-10) in Ward No. 6 of the municipality early in the morning.

Tapan Sarkar, assistant director (media) and senior assistant superintendent of police of SRB-10, disclosed the information in a press release.

According to the release, an operational team from SRB-10’s Faridpur camp (CPC-3) conducted the drive in Bishnupur at around 5:40am following a tip-off. During the operation, the team recovered 42 ownerless cocktails left abandoned in the mango orchard.

SRB-10 said all the recovered cocktails were intact and unexploded. Intelligence surveillance is ongoing to determine whether the explosives were stockpiled for a possible act of sabotage.

The release added that SRB regularly gathers intelligence and conducts operations to prevent the stockpiling, transportation and use of illegal arms and ammunition.

Such operations will continue to ensure public safety and bring criminals to justice, it said.
