Police recovered the hanging body of a 26-year-old Pakistani national from a house in South Banasree under Khilgaon Police Station in the capital on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Shahbaz, a businessman and son of Nazir Ahmed. He hailed from the Jalalpur area of Pakistan’s Multan district and lived at a residence in Block F of South Banasree.

Khilgaon Police Station Sub-Inspector Zubayer confirmed the incident.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 8:30am on Tuesday. After receiving information from the house caretaker, police went to the scene and broke open the door to recover Shahbaz’s body.

He was taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the duty doctor declared him dead at 10:50am.

Police suspect that he may have died by suicide following a family dispute, although the circumstances are still under investigation.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police said a detailed investigation into the incident was underway.
