DHAKA: Mohammad Mashiur Rahman, executive director (secretary) of the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA), has been removed from his post following controversial remarks comparing Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s political slogan to a Hadith.

The contractual official was transferred to the Ministry of Public Administration through a notification issued by the ministry on November 3.

Mashiur Rahman made the remarks on Sunday while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of trial bus operations on six routes in Dhaka under the ‘One Route, One Company’ initiative.

At the event, he compared Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s slogan to a Hadith, saying some might interpret his remarks as an attempt to flatter the prime minister in hopes of securing a future posting. However, he described the slogan as a “Hadith”.

Mashiur Rahman said, “Who can deny the statement, ‘Me before us, country before all’? Only a selfish person without patriotism could say they do not accept it. Leaving me aside, we will all stand together, and the country will come first. Then comes, ‘We will work, we will build the country, Bangladesh comes first’—this is a Hadith, a Hadith. It is an eternal message.”
