Gold prices in the domestic market have been raised again, with the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) increasing the price by Tk 5,482 per bhori to set the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 229,664.

BAJUS announced the decision in a press release on Thursday morning, saying the new prices came into effect at 10:00am the same day.

According to the statement, the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) had increased in the local market, prompting the association to revise gold prices after reviewing the overall market situation.

Under the new rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-carat gold costs Tk 229,664. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 219,342 per bhori, while 18-carat gold costs Tk 188,374. Gold produced under the traditional method has been priced at Tk 153,848 per bhori.

BAJUS said making charges would be applicable depending on the design of the jewellery.

It also said VAT was included in the selling price of gold and silver ornaments and could not be collected separately from customers.

For the exchange of old jewellery, a deduction of 12 per cent will apply, while 18 per cent will be deducted when purchasing old ornaments. These deductions will be calculated excluding making charges and the value of stones. However, VAT cannot be deducted separately in either case.

The revised prices will remain effective at all jewellery shops across the country until further notice, BAJUS added.

Earlier, on November 4, BAJUS raised gold prices by Tk 3,324 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat gold at Tk 224,182.

In 2025, gold prices were revised 93 times, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.

Meanwhile, silver prices have remained unchanged despite the latest increase in gold prices.
