Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Wednesday warned that creating unnecessary issues would only facilitate the return of the fugitive autocrat, urging all democratic forces to remain united to safeguard the gains of the July-August 2024 mass uprising.
Speaking at a programme marking the second anniversary of the uprising, he said the movement was a collective struggle of the people for democracy and democratic rights, not the achievement of any individual or political party.
The prime minister said any attempt to create unnecessary controversies or divisions among pro-democracy forces would only benefit the ousted authoritarian regime.
“If unnecessary issues are created, it will pave the way for the return of the fugitive autocrat,” he said.
Rahman called on political parties and all stakeholders to work together to protect the spirit and achievements of the July mass uprising, stressing that unity is essential to strengthening Bangladesh’s democratic transition.
