Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Matarbari of Maheshkhali upazila in Cox’s Bazar at around 10:30am on Sunday (August 9).
Earlier, at 9:15am, the prime minister left Tejgaon Airport in Dhaka by helicopter for Maheshkhali.
During his visit to Matarbari, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to inspect the Matarbari deep-sea port, the coal-fired power plant and the activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority.
He will then travel by helicopter to flood-hit areas of Banshkhali and Hathazari, where he is scheduled to hand over new houses to people affected by the recent floods as part of the rehabilitation programme.
According to the itinerary, the prime minister is scheduled to land at Pehelgazi Dighi field in Fatikchhari upazila around 1:30pm and proceed to Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Uloom Babunagar Madrasa.
There, he is scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari. He will also visit the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi and offer prayers.
At around 3:45pm, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to take a break at the Hathazari District Council Dak Bungalow.
Later, at 5pm, he is expected to attend a programme at Hathazari Government College ground organised to rehabilitate people affected by the recent floods.
In the evening, the prime minister is scheduled to attend an organisational meeting at the auditorium of Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram.
